Your home is your most important space, and the locks on its doors are your first line of defense. Whether you're dealing with an urgent lockout situation or planning a thoughtful security upgrade, North Florida Locksmith brings the right tools and experience directly to your door.
We work with homeowners across Jacksonville — in established neighborhoods like Riverside and San Marco, in growing suburbs like Mandarin and Southside, and in communities further out like Orange Park, Ponte Vedra Beach, and St. Augustine. Our technicians are familiar with the range of housing stock in this region, from older homes with vintage locksets to new construction with modern door prep.
We stock a wide variety of residential hardware — deadbolts, knobsets, lever handles, electronic locks, and more — so in most cases we can complete an installation or replacement on the same visit without ordering anything special.

Residential Services We Offer
Every service we provide for homeowners is designed to leave your home more secure and more convenient to access than it was before we arrived.
Home Lockouts
Locked out of your house? We respond fast — including nights, weekends, and holidays. Our technicians use professional techniques to get your door open without damage. Once you're inside, we can also assess whether your lock needs attention. See our full emergency locksmith page for details.
Deadbolt Installation
A high-quality deadbolt is the single most effective upgrade most homeowners can make. We install Grade 1 deadbolts from trusted manufacturers on front doors, back doors, garage entry doors, and any other exterior access point. Proper installation matters as much as the hardware itself — we do it right the first time.
Lock Rekeying
Rekeying changes the internal pins of your existing lock so that old keys no longer work. It's a practical and cost-effective option when you've moved into a new home, lost a key, or want to make sure a previous occupant or contractor can't still enter. We can rekey multiple locks to the same key in a single visit. Learn more on our rekey page.
Lock Replacement
When a lock is worn out, damaged, or simply not up to the job anymore, replacement is the right move. We'll help you choose hardware that fits your door prep, matches your existing aesthetic if that matters to you, and provides genuine security. We install locks from Schlage, Kwikset, and other reputable manufacturers.
Smart Lock Installation
Want to ditch the physical key entirely — or simply add the option to unlock your door from your phone? We install and configure smart locks from Schlage, Kwikset, and Yale, including app setup and pairing with your home's Wi-Fi or smart home hub. Visit our smart lock page for the full story.
Home Security Assessment
Not sure where your home is most vulnerable? We can walk through your property and point out weak points in your door hardware, strike plates, hinges, and locking mechanisms. Most security improvements at the door level are straightforward and affordable — we'll tell you exactly what makes a difference and what doesn't.
Sliding Door & Window Lock Repair
Sliding glass doors are common in Florida homes — and their locks are often the weakest point of entry. We repair and upgrade sliding door locks and can install additional security bars or secondary locks to reinforce these entry points.
Key Duplication & Master Key Setup
Need extra copies of a house key made? Need a single key that opens multiple locks in your home? We handle both. Key duplication is a quick, same-visit task. Master key systems for larger residences or multi-unit properties take a bit more planning, but we can set those up too.
Moving Into a New Home in North Florida?
One of the most common calls we get from new homeowners is simple: "I just closed on my house and I want to make sure I'm the only one with a working key." It's a completely reasonable concern.
When you buy a home, you typically receive the keys that the seller used — but you have no way of knowing how many copies of those keys exist. Previous owners, their family members, old contractors, real estate agents — any of them may still have keys that work in your locks.
The solution is straightforward: rekey every exterior lock on the home. It costs a fraction of a full lock replacement, takes less than an hour for a typical home, and gives you complete confidence that you control access. We can do this on the same day you close, often with just a few hours' notice.
If you're buying an older home or a property with older lock hardware, it may also be a good time to assess whether the locks themselves need upgrading — we'll give you an honest opinion.
What's Included in a New-Home Rekey Visit
- Rekey all exterior door locks to a new key
- Inspect lock hardware condition on each door
- Check deadbolt alignment and strike plate security
- Recommend upgrades only where they make a real difference
- Cut new keys on-site — as many copies as you need

What Homeowners Say About Us
"We moved into our house in Ponte Vedra Beach and called to get everything rekeyed before we even unloaded the moving truck. Quick, professional, and now we know exactly who has a key to our home."
— Homeowner, Ponte Vedra Beach"Had them install deadbolts on three doors including the garage entry. The tech pointed out that our strike plate screws were only half an inch long — swapped them for 3-inch screws at no charge. Small thing that makes a real difference."
— Resident, Mandarin"Locked myself out in the middle of a rainstorm with my dog waiting inside. They were at my door in about 30 minutes and had me in within five minutes of arriving. Incredibly relieved."

Call (904) 668-0776Frequently Asked Questions
The cost depends on the number of locks and the type of hardware involved. Most homes can be fully rekeyed in a single visit at a reasonable flat rate per lock, with a service call fee. We give you the exact price before any work begins — no estimates that balloon later. Rekeying is almost always less expensive than replacing locks outright, while achieving the same result in terms of key control.
Rekeying changes the internal pin configuration of your existing lock so old keys no longer work — the lock hardware itself stays in place. Lock replacement involves removing the entire lock and installing new hardware. Rekeying is faster and less expensive. Lock replacement makes more sense when the existing hardware is damaged, worn out, or not up to the security level you want. We cover this topic in detail on our rekey and lock change page.
Most standard exterior doors can accept a deadbolt, but there are a few factors that affect compatibility — door thickness, the material of the door and frame, and whether the door is pre-drilled for the right hole pattern. We carry the tools to bore new holes when needed. If you have a metal door, a fiberglass door, or an unusual door thickness, just mention it when you call and we'll make sure we bring the right equipment.
We work on all types of residential properties — single-family homes, townhouses, condos, apartments, and duplexes. For apartment units, we may need you to verify with your landlord or property management before we work on any exterior lock, since landlords typically have responsibilities related to the lock hardware. We can also work directly with property managers on behalf of tenants if needed.
For standard residential deadbolts, we most often recommend Schlage or Kwikset Grade 1 hardware — both are widely available, well-made, and offer good protection for typical residential applications. For higher security needs, we also carry Medeco and other pick-resistant options. For smart locks, Schlage Encode, Kwikset SmartCode, and Yale Assure are all solid choices we regularly install. We'll talk through the options with you based on your specific doors and security goals.
